Gerald Roger Jr. / Jolly J. aka Everglades Boss
IN THE SWAMPS OF S.W. FLORIDA
Born in Brooklyn, New York City raised in Miami, Florida. Jolly was introduced to the Hip Hop genre
of music in the 80’s and 90’s on the local radio stations and MTV, Yo MTV Raps, Cassette Tapes, from
Pals at school and in the areas were he lived around. He was fascinated by Rap groups and Duo’s, like Master P & The No Limit Soldiers, Wu-tang Clan, UGk, Scarface, Eight Ball MJG, and Mobb Deep. There are to many artist to name. These are just a few main stream at the time he could relate to and all of the above artist he would pump continuously in he’s cassette tape player.
Jolly enjoy almost all genre of music from classic rock, to blues, spending most of he’s leisure time creating hip hop beats and written hip hop songs, Jolly J. has a love for hip hop that he creates, he says for him its therapeutic. And also loves sharing his craft with a global audience of friends and family with appreciation for hip hop/ rap genre.
His Journey through life wasn’t easy. But this gift of music grew with prayer, time, and effort. He loves writing lyrics and thrives off the energy and vibe of hip hop culture.
It helped him through the break up with his former group Gruesome Pack.
Creating music also helped him in His parenting role as a single father, showing his kids positivity through music can keep you focused in life so you don’t fall into trouble.
Jolly short term goal is to be able to run his own independent studio, and publishing “ Jolly Green”
His hunger for music comes from the growing pains and support from his family, friends, and fans.
